在埃塞俄比亚的传说中，伊斯兰教苏菲派的伊玛目寻求永恒时，发现了卡塔叶。受此传说的启发，本片带领观众进入哈勒尔高地，体验古老的卡塔叶仪式，展开一段神秘的精神之旅。卡塔叶具有刺激神经的效用，几个世纪以来，苏菲派穆斯林依靠咀嚼这种绿叶来进行宗教冥想。它也是埃塞俄比亚利润最高的经济作物。本片以卡塔叶的交易为纽带，串起一个个私密的故事，让我们得以走近那些在政府暴力压迫下，对卡塔叶上瘾并冒险越境的人们。本片也为观众打开了一扇窗，进入被专制政权追捕的年轻人的梦。
