本片是根据真实事件改编而成。尚克劳范达美在本片中饰演一位功夫高手，必须在毫无规则限制的拳赛中为自己的性命放手一搏。尚克劳范达美饰演法兰克，参加一种传自香港九龙的非法秘密拳赛，并希望成为首位赢得该赛事的西方人。然而在赢得第一场胜利后，法兰克发现自己要烦恼的事不只是要如何赢得冠军，情报局探员要他退出比赛，一位美丽的记者想报导他的故事，更不用说他的对手想要他的小命！
1986年由尚格云顿首部挂牌主演的《血点》，这部在香港拍摄，预算只有150万美元的低制作成本电影，杀青后还曾因整体效果不佳而被冷冻了两年之久，直到1988年尚格云顿亲自重新剪辑并恳求制作人后方能在各地电影院放映。《血点》意外地卖座奇佳，全世界的票房收入高达3千万美元，范达美也初尝在国际影坛走红的滋味。
