◎简 介
二战时代，日军占据了缅甸边境的一个战俘营。出于计谋需要，日军将在缅甸与泰国交界修建一条大桥，同时希望战俘营里战俘出力，但英军战俘代表尼科森上校（亚利克·基尼斯 Alec Guinness 饰）以为这违反日内瓦公约拒不履行。因而尼科森等人被关了禁闭，可是没了尼科森的率领， 战俘们表示悲观，而且因日本设想方面的不敷，建桥工作堕入了障碍。日军无法只好放出了尼科森等人，获释后尼科森感应在破坏一切的战争里何不做点扶植，因而起头投入到建桥的工作。与此同时，逃进来的美军俘虏希尔兹（威廉?霍尔登 William Holden 饰）接管盟军一个出格使命，就是大桥建成之日将它炸毁。
