◎简 介
批评家亚历山大（厄兰·约瑟夫森 Erland Josephson 饰）在瑞典的家中庆贺自己的五十岁生日，年幼的小儿子刚做完咽喉手术不能发声。两人在寂静中种下一株树苗期待它生出绿色的枝叶，但是就在当天早晨，电台广播了一则发射核导弹的消息，第三次天下大战行将爆发。失望的亚历山大向天主祈祷不要发生战争，甚至他愿意奉献自己的一切来阻止天下末日的到临。期待天下更生的亚历山大在心力交瘁的情况下，烧毁了自己的屋子。在熊熊大火中，亚历山大被救护车送进了医院。小儿子来到岸边继续为他们配合栽种的树苗浇水，一切似乎又规复了安静。
苏联著名电影大师安德烈·塔科夫斯基生前执导的最初一部佳构《牺牲》，荣获1986年戛纳电影节天主教人性精神奖在内的四项大奖，并提名金棕榈奖最好影片，于1988年荣获第41届英国电影和电视艺术学院奖最好外语片。
