在朋友的婚礼上，汉子（Aaron Eckhart 艾伦?艾克哈克 饰）与女人（Helena Bonham Carter海伦娜?博纳姆?卡特 饰）相遇。他们是一对分手多年的夫妻，未老先衰的年龄毁掉了原本天长地久的恋爱，多年后再次碰头，时光已销蚀青春的容颜，似乎那些原本不成饶恕的细节与片断也变得眇乎小哉。然有些工具一旦放手，便必定永久落空……
