◎简 介
凯伦（奥黛丽·赫本 Audrey Hepburn 饰）和玛莎（雪莉·麦克雷恩 Shirley MacLaine 饰）配合治理着一间私立黉舍，虽然身为女流之辈，但她们挺拔独行英明果断的风格还是赢得了很多门生和教员的爱好，两人之间的友谊也非常坚忍。玛丽（Karen Balkin 饰）从小就过着养尊处优的生活，长大于溺爱当中的她逐步养成了古怪的扭曲本性。
在一次出错以后，玛丽遭到了凯伦与玛莎的赏罚，可这类赏罚在玛丽看来简直是奇耻大辱，冤仇的种子在她幼小的心灵里生根发芽。玛丽告诉祖母，她无意当中看到了凯伦和玛莎接吻的排场，愤慨的祖母将这化为乌有的离间公之于众。面临来势汹汹的欲加上罪，凯伦和玛莎先是奋起抵挡，但很快她们便发现，她们手中唯一的筹码——真诚与坦荡居然是这样的无足轻重。
