这里门生分为两派：塔塔门生和巴塔门生，前者经过巨额支票获得登科资历，尔后者经过尽力进修获得登科资历。鲁安·楠达（瓦伦·达万 Varun Dhawan 饰）就是典型的塔塔，他是德里贸易富翁安苏克·楠达的小儿子，但他不想成为父亲那样的贩子，而想成为天下上最刺眼的摇滚明星。阿比曼尤·辛格（施坦·马洛萨 Siddharth Malhotra 饰）是一个挺拔独行的巴塔门生。两人这一主要争取的不可是“年度最好门生”的殊荣，还有圣特蕾莎最标致的女孩沙娜亚·辛加尼亚（阿莉雅·布哈特 Alia Bhatt 饰）的垂青。
