这部电影和之前介绍的《搜寻咕噜》一样，也是一部非商业电影，不会进行任何商业化操作，完全由《指环王》爱好者参与拍摄。这部电影的最初的构想始于2003年，该片的导演兼演员Kate Madison决定送一部电影参加“指环王爱好者电影展，但是这个小小的想法逐渐演变成一个雄心壮志的的工程。2006年4月他们制作了第一个电影剪辑短片，而目前这部电影仍在拍摄中，预计2009年制作完成，届时，将在互联网上免费提供下载。这部电影时长大约60分钟。
Kate Madison,接受访问时候说“《希望的诞生》可以说是新线拍摄的《指环王》三部曲前传，我的目标是使这部电影能够独立于这几部电影，但是又能与之相辅相成。”
“在托尔金的原著的基础上，我们想挖掘一下阿拉贡的族人以及他父母的故事，我们想给人们展示更多有关阿拉贡背后的故事。”
