　　妻子度假时代，丈夫理查德·沙尔曼（汤姆·伊威尔 Tom Ewell 饰）由于一次花盆事务，结识了三楼邻人、电视广告明星（玛丽莲·梦露 Marilyn Monroe 饰）。对方如洋娃娃般的美貌，令这个已婚汉子为之倾倒，而且在一次酒会上，在她弹钢琴的时辰，坐在她的 旁边，作出了不雅的行为。事后，汤姆堕入了深深的懊恼当中，他请教于心理医生，对方指出他的病症，勾引他付高价诊治。汤姆没有理睬，起头自己的心理分析，并对此事做出了一系列添枝接叶的空想。他担忧这个八卦会传到妻子耳中，这类担忧逐步转向了对后者出轨的思疑。因而，汤姆在性空想的左右下，约了这个女孩一路看电影，并请她来家中做客。后者由于家里的风扇不制冷而迷恋他家的空调，是以希望来这里留宿，成果闹出很多笑话……
