◎简　　介

　　汤姆琼斯（阿尔伯特·芬尼 Albert Finney 饰）本为私生子，后被一位流收养，他天性热情奔放，样子又生得风骚俊朗，庄园主的女儿索菲亚（苏珊娜·约克 Susannah York 饰）同他坠入情网，后遭到表弟比菲尔（大卫·沃纳 David Warner 饰）的插足干与，一番纠葛以后，申明散乱的汤姆琼斯决议分开故乡，去里面的天下寻觅属于自己的六合。
　　汤姆分开后没多久，悲伤的索菲亚便也踏上了旅途，两人在缘分的驱使之下在一位女商贩的家中重逢了。以后，比菲尔亦来到了伦敦，想要报复汤姆。在比菲尔的诡计筹划之下，汤姆被送上了绞刑架，就在行将行刑的生死攸关的时辰，索菲亚的父亲实时赶到，破解了比菲尔的诡计，拯救了汤姆的人命。
