　　在马里兰州一个深信基督的小镇，人们悠哉游哉，过着安闲安静的生活。但是一场意外烦扰了他们的安宁，名叫夏恩（Shiloh Fernandez 饰）的男孩举枪自杀，今后恶运接连来临小镇。夏恩死后未几，他的女友娜塔莉（Rumer Willis 饰）以及她的父亲伯纳德（Jared Harris 饰）相继自杀。目击娜塔莉自杀的少女林赛（Elizabeth Rice 饰）的男友迪兰（Kelly Blatz 饰）是牧师的儿子，他相信这连续串的自杀事务决非偶然，而是和镇上半年前一宗女巫公案有关，这个女巫正是夏恩的母亲。似乎，构造灭亡病毒继续舒展的法子就是杀掉女巫另一个儿子艾丹（Thomas Dekker 饰）……
