　　常言道“金屋、银屋，不如自己的狗屋”，世上没有一个地方能与家等量齐观。本片仆人公的家就在美国迈阿密市南海滩旁一栋陈旧不胜的老人院里。他们是4位已过花甲之年的老头子，别离叫Bobby Bartellemeo、“黑蝙蝠”Joey Pistella、“钢砖”Mike Donatelli 和“大嘴巴”Tony Donato。别看他们现在贫困失意，年轻哪会可都是久经沙场的黑手党成员。
　　红色的沙滩上，性感女模cavort正在搔首弄势，为高级古装杂志拍封面照片，可他们却无意欣赏，由于他们行将面临被赶出老人院的命运。老人院的劈面是富贵的贸易区，地段很好。业主筹算把这群糟老头赶进来，然后对旧衡宇重新创新一下，这样便可以吸引更多高级佃农，收更高的租金，赚更多的钱。
　　虽然已到迟暮之年，但老人们人老心不老。为了要保住老人院，也就是他们的家，四人决议重操旧业。他们构想了一个概况看似简单，实在奇妙无穷的“保家计划”。在计划实施进程中，没想到还被一个毒品贩缠上，要他们帮手对于与他有仇的黑帮成员。惋惜他们轻忽了自己的年数和身手，事未办成，却闹了很多笑话。
