◎简　　介

　　威尔逊船主死后留下了一座城堡--黑林城堡。船主的22岁的女儿简.威尔逊前来城堡料理后事，其父的家庭律师罗伯特.杰克逊说船永生前约定愿以10,000英镑出售城堡，但是简.威尔逊对此暗示拒绝，不认可拜托书。
　　希奇的是，来访的客人居然还对四周的一个老酒馆堆栈感爱好。更使人恐惧的是在城堡四周的田野和沼泽里不竭有来访着稀里糊涂地被一只带牙套的黑狗咬死。而且简.威尔逊蜜斯的床上也被人放上了一条毒蛇！
　　治理城堡地下室的是克里姆斯比，一个独眼龙。他养着一些毒蛇。他在毒蛇的牙齿中提取致命的毒液并放在牙套里安插在一条黑狗的尖牙上...
　　这一切究竟是怎样回事呢？
　　随着威尔逊的前妻-也就是城堡的最初继续着凯瑟琳到达城堡后一切起头清朗化了。
　　一番观察后，约翰爵士发现，城堡中出现的费尔班克斯，纳尔逊和被咬死的塔克等人都曾是威尔逊船主所管辖的“PRESENT MONRO”号汽船上的工作职员关于这艘船上，曾有珍贵的珠宝忽然消失的“传闻”。
　　
　　那末，这些人能否是和这些珠宝有关呢？假如是这样，那珠宝在那里呢？剧中威尔逊船主怎样会新生的呢？
