　　19-20世纪初，瑞士共有约15万儿童成为这样的出租孩子，仅1930年就有6万名孩子在农民家打苦工。这也是社会结构带来的结果，那时辰瑞士以农业为主，而农民缺少劳动力，年幼的贫民家孩子便成为农民的免费劳动力。现在在瑞士另有1万名曩昔的出租孩子活在人世。
　　
　　百余年来，瑞士从未面临过这个历史上的“污点”，现在这部电影引发了社会的关注，瑞士政府也做出了响应的反应，联邦司法部长西蒙奈特·索马鲁嘎(Simonetta Sommaruga)看了这部电影并暗示，很兴奋这个题目现在引发了社会的重视。
　　
　　她说，联邦将于2012年为昔时的出租孩子举行一个纪念活动，这一活动的目标在于精神抵偿，而不是经济抵偿。
　　
　　这些出租孩子曾为瑞士的农业经济作出了庞大的进献，但是他们却没有获得过一分钱。瑞士政府也从未给过他们任何抵偿，甚至不敢计较这笔用度，由于数字将会很是惊人。
　　
　　《周日一瞥》报与一家大银行的经济专家配合算过一笔帐，瑞士农业经济从这些孩子身上享用的无偿劳动换算成金钱，代价高达200-650亿瑞郎。
