　　高三生迈尔士胡想分开美国伊利诺州的偏僻小镇、前往大都会攻读电影，但是骤逝的爸爸生前将他的大学基金浪费在情妇身上，妈妈也因此两手空空力所不及，顿时眼看大好前程行迁就此断送，想尽法子解除万难的迈尔士发现一个奖学金机遇，就是加入校内唯一的排球队，希望可以让他顺遂进入芝加哥的大学，只不外这个机遇有点不服常，并引发轩然大波和激烈否决，由于那是一支女子排球队……
　　编导纳森阿德洛夫取材自己14岁的亲身履历，分歧于一般同道长大电影，本片不聚焦于配角的岀柜履历，而是显现他对峙己志、告竣方针的毅力，并献给一切在长大进程中遭遇意外波动的人，如同迈尔士和他妈妈，进修若何自力、秉持耐心、寻得自傲，并迎向枯木逢春的人生。
